Philanthropy, at its core, means “love of humankind.” For more than 30 years, I’ve been drawn to this work not just as a profession but as a way to support and uplift people, organizations, and communities that shape our world for the better. What began as a vision to connect nonprofits with the right talent has evolved into a mission of helping organizations fulfill their goals and navigate change with purpose and resilience.
Nonprofit leadership is a calling. It demands not only strategic vision and fundraising expertise but also empathy, adaptability, and a deep commitment to service. A strong nonprofit leader needs to inspire, connect, and build partnerships that amplify their organization’s impact.
It’s essential that, as a field, we create spaces where nonprofit professionals feel supported and inspired to stay the course. Investing in leadership development, mentorship, and sustainable career growth is how we strengthen the sector and help leaders thrive in their roles. I’ve always believed that connecting the right people with the right missions is a powerful way to move the needle in our communities. That belief drove me to start Nonprofit Personnel Network (NPPN) 37 years ago, and it’s what continues to sustain me in this work today.
About a year ago, I entered a strategic partnership with Mondo Unlimited, which serves as succession planning for NPPN. It also allows me to stay involved as a partner and advisor to Mondo’s growing business that brings together consulting and talent acquisition focused exclusively on the nonprofit sector.
As I pass the reins, I know Mondo founder Trish Dewald and her team will continue connecting organizations with leaders who are both highly skilled and deeply aligned with their missions. Together, we’ll keep building a network of talented individuals who are ready to shape the future of the nonprofit world. It’s an exciting time, and I look forward to the continued impact we can achieve together.
